My 2 rats love it so far, 7/4/2017

99leadballoons from Dallas, TX

Assembly was mostly easy, but the side panels needed a hammer to straighten out the bottom pegs and the top latches. It's huge - I could fit in it, and my sister joked that with all the accessories I added it would probably go for $1.1 million on House Hunters in Hoboken. Having the full-front doors makes cleaning and rearranging things so easy. The doors even come off and on fairly easily. The shelf is great, I can store just about everything under the cage - bedding, food, extra liners, box of miscellaneous treats & chew toys, etc. I don't have any bedding in the shallow bottom pan, instead I use two corner litter boxes with shavings, and the high sides of the boxes seem to keep most of the shavings from falling out. I haven't covered the wire ramp but there is a fleece cover for it included with the cage. Daily/weekly cleaning looks to be quite easy, but the size of the cage precludes a deep clean of all the wires with a hose/shower without taking it apart.

Nice quality for the price, 1/10/2017

meg1974 from Montara, CA, USA

We bought this cage for our two chinchillas and it's perfect for them. The quality is very good and it's nice how wide the doors open to clean the cage. We did purchase a stainless steel bottom pan to replace the plastic so the chins wouldn't chew and replaced the plastic shelf with wood as well. Now it's the perfect home for our chins. The cage was difficult to put together but overall we are happy with our purchase.

Great cage., 9/28/2015

Marsie from Kansas

Before I get in to the stuff that made this cage not perfect, let me say that this is a FANTASTIC cage. I got the single nation and then the add -on so I suppose I technically have a double nation. This cage is a super quality and size for the price, especially on this website; the cheapest I've found it online. Before this cage, I had a Petco rat manor that cost almost as much as a single nation and was completely not worth it. Cleaning this cage is a breeze compared to taking that cage apart each week. My rats really love the extra space. Over all, I would just go ahead and buy a single or double nation for your rats. I also appreciated that they came with ramp covers! Now, these are minor things, but flaw wise, these cages are not entirely tool free construction. I needed a a hammer to force in ill-fitting pieces. Also the two levels can be separated but you'll want to straighten out the ramp and put something over it if you have babies or small females.

Sturdy and Strong, but a bit Pricey, 9/22/2015

Julian from

This cage is very sturdy, and clearly takes a lot to break. That said, many of the pieces arrived bent out of shape, so they will need to be bent back to fit. Building it is awful, but one together, it will last a lifetime. It is pretty spacious, rolls well, and the included shelf is pretty nice. It's just a bit pricey, although still worth it anyway.

Great Cage for Rats!, 9/21/2015

Coffee from Indianapolis, IN

I have two boy rats and the single level critter nation is perfect! There is plenty of room for toys, hideaways, a wheel, and hammocks. I could easily get two more rats and still have plenty of room. You will need a rubber mallet to put this together, though. Other than that it is easy to assemble and very sturdy. This is a cage that will last a long time.

It's great!, 8/4/2015

After a lot of research this was the best cage out there and this is the cheapest place to get it. Delivery was quick and everything was intact. Assembly is difficult, so rope someone into helping you ;)

Good for the price, 6/11/2015

Samanthariedl from

It's a really great cage. I got it for my two rats because they chew apart anything plastic. They have tons of space and they're huge rats. The only complaint is that I had to hammer some pieces together because they don't match up perfectly. Once you get the cage together there's no way it's ever going to come apart.

Had to fix the cage soon as I opened it!, 4/15/2015

CandCRatLove from

So I just have some warnings on this product. It is a sturdy cage once you get it together. However the instructions are not real clear. There is little black caps that they fail to tell you needs removed upon assembling the cage. The cage itself... well some of the panels were bent upon taking it out of the box. The latches on the doors are rusted. They claim its no tools needed. However you do need a rubber mallet. So assembling this cage was not easy due to the panels being bent and the sauntering was very sloppy. If you are willing to work on the cage a bit yourself it is a sturdy cage. However for the price you shouldn't have to work that hard on a new cage. Nor should the latches be rusted.
