I have used this food for a number of years now, mixed in with other food. I have never had any problems whatsoever with food getting stuck in their mouth with any of the ferrets I have had. One of my current ferrets is an extremely picky eater- she doesn't even really like treats- but she took to this food with no problem at all.

After my newly one-year-old male lost too much weight for me to handle (my son, who also has ferrets, tried telling me they all lose weight when they get that age.)
I told him, "No,there is something wrong." As he also looked sickly in his eyes, (Moms can always tell when their children are sick by their eyes.)
I decided I better do some research.
I came upon a study that put ZuPreem, EVO & Sheppard & Green in the top three of ferret foods for the healthiest food content.
I am so MAD & SHOCKED after reading what the other top name brands are so full of and the bad ingredients they KNOW IS NOT GOOD FOR FERRETS, yet put in anyways, for the almighty buck, PROVING THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT FERRETS!
They should be FINED or taken off the market for the crap they throw in our little loved one's food!!!
Up to this point I had tried most of the ferret foods, but when I put out ZuPreem, my skinny little guy immediately devoured it!
I am so happy to report my boy is gaining weight and his eyes tell me he is feeling better!!!
This is also the FIRST FOOD that is EMPTY from their cage bowl in the morning!
My other younger ferret loves it too!
ONCE AGAIN, I GET TO HEAR ONE OF THE BEST SOUNDS I HAVEN'T HEARD IN A LONG TIME-THAT OF MY HEALTHY BOY NIBBLING ON HIS FOOD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.
And, who cares about how their poo smells as long as they are healthy, right?!!!
Like the saying goes, (with editing done, of course) AND YOU THINK YOUR "POO" DOESN'T STINK?!!!!!

I just switched my ferret from Marshall food to Zupreem a couple of weeks ago. She took to the new food almost immediately, and I am very pleased with the nutritional content of Zupreem vs. Marshall food. She liked the Zupreem so much that after only a few days I was able to cut out mixing in the Marshall food and she did just fine. However, I do have one serious concern about this food. The kibble pieces are the perfect size and shape to get stuck in the top of my ferret's mouth and choke her. I have seen this happen a few times while she was eating, and I'm sure it's happened numerous times that I did not witness. She has to stop and use her hands to dislodge the piece from her mouth, which is very difficult for her and painful to watch since I cannot help her. Needless to say, I will no longer be feeding her Zupreem food, which is unfortunate, but I don't want my ferret to choke to death. I really wouldn't recommmend this food to other ferret owners, at least not without warning.

ZuPreen is a great 'Mixer' Food but I don't recomend it being the Sole food. I feed it about 4 to 1 (1 being the zupreen) and the other, another brand that is private label. But I have watched, I have 7 fuzzy buddies and they will ALL dig through the food bowl to find the Zupreen. Then will eat the rest. Great Skin, Hair is Beautiful Bright eyes, and TONS of energy! And Ferrets.com Always has a great price on it.. Just wish it came it larger quantities.

My ferrets took to it very well, I would say within 3 or 4 days. Plus it is fairly healthy and purchasable at local stores if you are in a pinch.
