Product Summary:
Wysong Ferret Archetypal-1™ Diet

Wysong Diets seek to emulate the food ferrets eat in the wild, the diet for which they are genetically programmed. Archetypal-1 more closely achieves this goal than any other food. It is naturally preserved with Wysong Oxherphol™ antioxidant, Nutri-Pak™ oxygen- and light-barrier packaging. Also free of non-nutritional additives, such as color, texture, and taste.

Features:
  • Not heated in any stage of production as heat destroys nutrients
  • Meets the nutritional needs of ferrets for a food rich in concentrated fats as the main source of energy and quality, meat-based protein
  • Rich in enzymes and probiotic cultures
  • Complete with meat, organs, bones, plant nutrients, collagen, proteoglycans (chondroitin, glucosamine), vitamins and chelated minerals
  • Rich in ammino acids such as taurine, arginine, and L-carnitine, which are commonly degraded or lost in heat processed food
  • Contains no grains, which contribute to poor coat and skin quality and pancreatic disorders

Love it, 7/19/2011

Liz from

My ferrets go absolutely crazy for this stuff no matter what form it's in. I love that it's closer to their natural diet than regular kibble. The price is a little steep, but I think it's worth it. I see some reviewers complaining about having to grind it up to remove sharp objects, but really? You can't take a minute out of your day for your ferret's well-being?

Sharp Objects, 3/5/2011

Cheryl from Homewood, il

My ferret likes Archetypal-1, and i like the company concept behind the product. Problem is that I have to carefully crumble each piece practically to dust in order to check for some very sharp objects and chunks that would cause a blockage in ferrets. I don't know why they can't grind this down finer so that this wouldn't be an issue. So if you purchase this, make sure you go through every tiny amount for very sharp bits, probably bone chips and thick hard chunks that would certainly cause an intestinal blockage.

Unhelpful staff, 1/18/2011

Shelly from

Wysong sent a new batch of archtypal 1 for ferrets. There was no notice on the package that this was a new formula nor was I told anything when I ordered. This 'new' food is full of hard suff that could easily cause a blockage in a ferret. NO ONE at Wysong wants to hear this. All I get is generic emails about this 'healthful' food. They refuse to let me speak to anyone who is ferret knowledgeable. I will never feed any of their products again. They are hostile and uncooperative and won't own up to the junk that is in their food. Read some of the reviews about their dog food.

Okay food... , 12/31/2010

Rebecca from

Ares and Pandora did not like this food mixed with water to add the moisture back to it. I did read the other reviews and saw that some ferrets never took to it. Nor did my two ferrets… They love it sprinkled on their food dry. I tried this while Ares and Pandora was still on the moist food. Pandora how ever did eat and try some of it. Ares would not touch it in moist form. Now that I use it dry they love it! I wanted something more natural for them tell I got them to eat mice and such. This is better then the kibble… Just not for every ferret. If your ferret will not eat it moist try it dry sprinkled in their food or vise versa...

Yum-ie!, 8/24/2010

Lindsey from Dallas, Texas

This is a premium food product so you will pay a premium price. But, my ferret LOVES both the I and II. I feed all my animals products that have as few additives as possible. This is a super product to use as a supplement, treat or main feed.

Best food ferret.com offers, 3/25/2010

Lisa from NJ

If you want your ferrets to be happy, live longer and healthier lives, feed this food! It's the closest thing to a natural diet you can get in kibble form. They will have more energy, softer fur, and not crash after playing for an hour. Some ferrets will not like the texture though, and so it will take a longer time to switch them over. But this is their health we're talking about, so it's worth it.
