This is the best cage ever! I assembled it with no problems. The cage is easy to clean and I have no problems with odor because my ferret uses the litter box that fits perfectly in the corner of the cage. When she does miss, the bottom tray(that I line with litter also) catches the mess for easy clean up. I am OCD, and HATE odors. This cage makes it easy to deal with. I am happy that I did not let the negative reviews dissuade me from purchasing this cage. I have not had any of the issues that I see some others have had. The cage is sturdy and comfortable for my baby. We love it.

I have had this cage for three years and our kit has grown in to it with no problems at all. She has never escaped or fallen or broken anything on the cage. It is perfect. The black/grey finish is sleek and fits well with upscale home decor. It costs considerably less than the Ferret Nation and the Marshall Ferret Mansion, but from what Ive seen, seems to be even better constructed. I wouldnt have a different cage for our ferret if you paid me.

My girls DumDum
& Dede love their new cage! I upgraded from the 3 level super pet home to this one. Its not as tall but the leg room is much greater. Plus they LOVE to climb, and play with each other on the top level.
I keep all the litter pans on the bottom, so there's no mess making AT ALL! The bottom has a mesh/wire bottom for litter to fall through. You can pull out the drop pan, without even having to open cage doors UN-like in the Ferret Nation #142. I give this home a 5* rating- I use & recommend to all ferret owners!

My ferretts love this cage however, the latch screws do not tighten and the plastic laddders break at the attachment sites. I have looked to see if I can replace just those items but have not found them. Please advise on where I can get new ladders and latches without purchasing another cage.

If you cannot afford the FN, this is the next best thing. My only complaint would be only one side of the door opens. Other than that I have 2 and the ferrets are happy and so are we.

I bought this cage for my chinchilla and its great for him lots of room. The size is absolutly fantastic it could fit quite a few chinchillas or ferrets extremely comfortably. The worst part was the assembly, the alan wrench needed to assemble the cage stripped almost immediatly making it difficult to build but we got it done and couldn't be happier. We did have to add in extra wooden ledges but it makes it even more perfect for him.

I got this cage as my first cage for ferrets. assembly wasn't too bad. the biggest issue i had was the extremely weak welding that snapped with little to no effort. I also did not like the wire bottoms on both levels. not only was it hard on their feet, one of the ferrets tore off his talon sheath and left a bloody mess every where. with out having a tray if the ferrets went potty it would go stright to the floor, and if it didnt go stight there it got in places where it wasn't ment to be. making cleaning a nasty task of taking the whole cage apart. for larger people getting into the cage to clean it with out taking it apart was a pain.
another thing is the ramps and levels. the levels are too small for even one ferret let alone anymore than that. the ramps are also very slippery making transversing it trecherous.
if i had known this earlier i would not have wasted my money getting this cage.

I've had this cage a little over a year now and it's held up great. Almost a month ago i got a second ferret and this cage is the perfect size for the two of them. Make sure you put sone type of lock on the cage doors because there easy to open and mine have already escaped from it[they didnt get very far]. Overall this is a great cage but it can get smelly if not cleaned out regulary

This is a great crate vs Marshall. At the time I just couldn't afford the Marshall crates. I used an electric drill and screwed the screws in rather than then Allen Wrench...Easy to clean and my ferret LOVES it

We bought this one in town since no stores carried Ferret Nation. It's a good substitute. Watch the latches, the screws tend ot get loose. Also, the mesh instead of floors is hard on the little feets. We put some carpet mats down to protect their little feet. Plenty big, good price. Recommend as a second choice to the Ferret Nation.

We have five rats who love this cage. It is solidly built, a good deal for the money. We didn't seem to have any of the assembly problems noted by most other owners. As for the wire floors, we took out the bottom completely (they use the tray lined with bedding), and covered the second level with a piece of clear Lexan that we cut to fit. My biggest gripe about this cage seems to be common among users- it is difficult to clean thoroughly, and therefore tends to hold a urine odor. It's almost impossible to remove all the filth that collects in the crevices, and as a result we have some rusting that has started. Otherwise, I think this cage is great, and would recommend it to people who don't mind a little difficulty with cleaning.

This cage is awful. I LOVED it for the first few weeks I had it, and everything was great. After that no matter how many times I cleaned it (daily wipe downs, and completely washing the cage down in the shower nearly every day after a few more weeks) the cage reeked. The bars absorbed the smell of urine, as did the plastic shelves and tray in the bottom. The places where the side bars meet the bottom collect urine, and the only way to get it out is to tear down the cage, which strips the screws that came with it. It's very unsteady, due to rusting and soldering coming apart in places. I would NEVER recommend this cage to ANYONE. Plus, it's not like it's even that good of a deal anymore, since the price jumped nearly $50! Don't waste your money on this cage.

I've had the cage for about 2 weeks now, and have NO complaints about quality, construction, price, or ease of use, all are excellent.
The one side door panels make cleaning OK but does limit your option as to what must go where (ramps and platforms must be put in certain spots) so there are only a few places to place litter box, but all spots are pretty accessible for changing and cleaning.
Putting it together was a bit troublesome not because it is difficult, but because the parts are not numbered or coded in any way and since so many peices look the same it is easy to put the wrong pannel in the wrong spot, only to notice later when you need to add the next part and have to take it apart and re-do what you just did. A very easy solution would be for the manufacture to LABEL the parts and constrcution time would be greatly reduced. So for now pay close attention to the fine details in the instructions and you should have no problems.
Worth the price!!!

I bought this cage for 2 of my 5 ferrets. At first, I loved the cage, but it has become a real pain to clean. My ferrets both go to the bathroom in one of the corners, and because there is no sides, it just shoots onto the floor. Cleaning in between the wire is such a hassle. They slide on the ramps, and I hate that they are constantly walking on wire. I made a board to cover the top level, but the bottom is still wire due to them not using a litter box. The quality is nice, but I don't think that anybody was thinking when they made it. I wouldn't reccomend it. I spend more time cleaning than playing with my babies. =[

Having purchased my first cage from a national pet supply chain store at a higher price, I have owned a Feisty Ferret cage for well over a year and have been very satisfied with it. Satisfied enough that I contacted Prevue Pet Products about purchasing parts to expand the cage (add a level) to accommodate my expanding fuzzy family. After receiving safety warnings (which I have taken precautions against) I received a price quote of approx 2/3 the current price of a full new cage. Instead of purchasing the parts from Prevue, I decided to order a whole new cage from Ferret.com. After expanding my original cage by adding a level, I now use the remainder of the new cage as a travel cage for overnight trips. As others have mentioned, my only disappointment with the cage is that urine and feces can get caught in the small crevices between panels, which a small brush will usually tend to fine. I still prefer to completely disassemble the cage every 6 or so months and completely clean it, so outside of the major modification of adding an additional level, the only other changes I've made to the cage was replacing the stock Allen bolts for standard hex bolts for easier disassembly/assembly.
On a side note: When the new cage arrived from Ferret.com, it did arrive with a broken lock on one of the doors and a cracked ramp which Ferret.com replaced immediately upon contacting them about it.
Again, I have been very satisfied with the original cage and continue to be very satisfied with my current modified version. Well worth the money!

I have five pet rats that live in my Ferret Nation. The quality of the cage is unmatched by any other cage that I've seen- it is structurally sound, spacious, and attractive. The only thing holding me back from giving it a 5-star rating is the difficulty I've had in keeping it clean. Urine and feces (despite nightly- NIGHTLY! cleanings) end up un crevices that my paper towels won't reach, and litter and feces surround the cage on the floor. As long as you don't mind having to be very dilligent about keeping your Ferret Nation clean, you'll be quite happy with this top-of-the-line cage.

I have never had such a terrible time assembling something in all my life. The instructions are poor. No illustrations designating which panel is a front, back, top, bottom, etc. It was hit and miss the whole time. What should have taken an hour took 5 hours. Not only because of the poor instructions and illustrations, but many components had bent parts, and some of the screw holes did not line up sufficiently.
So I had to hammer out the metal to straighten, open, and force parts into place. The door locks were bent, so I couldn't close them, so I had to straighten those out, too. After finally assembling it, to add insult to injury, the ramp that leads from the bottom shelf to the second floor has no way to attach to the floor opening. There is nothing to hook it to, so I had to improvise a way to attach it. After such a horrible experience, I will not recommend anyone buy this item because of all the trouble with assembly. I'm keeping it until I can dredge up more money for a Ferret Nation.

This is a very good quality, spacious, attractive cage. I ordered it for my sons first ferret. We love the look and the features. I didnt think the assembly instructions were exactly accurate, but it doesnt take a rocket scientist to wing it the rest of the way. I got it put together fairly easily. After much comparison shopping both online and locally, I found that this was the best price for the same item anywhere. I would highly recommend purchasing this cage from Ferret.com.

This cage is great! I have two ferrets and this is their second cage. I bought a cheaper, much smaller one that I wasn't happy with. The tall stance is great because it stands on it's own. Unfortunately I paid much more for it at a chain store. Another plus is that the cage is sturdy enough that I felt my ferrets were safe. I own a terrier that thought they might be his squeak toys when we first got them. Having them in this cage has allowed him to get to know them safely and now we aren't concerned about him attacking the cage and hurting them. I think this is probably the best cage you could get for the low cost! BTW- If you look at bird cages of comparable construction they are several hundred to a thousand dollars.

This cage is perfect for rats as well. We run a rescue and these cages are great, plus you can section off the top and bottom.
The only thing I do not like is there is no siding for litter.
But we buy shallow storage bins and sit them in there.
The cage is sturdy and easy to clean. It is a great price too!

This cage is really great, especially for introducing new ferrets. My fuzzy was used to being an only ferret, so I had to be very careful about introducing a new tiny kit. The levels can be separated, so that they could get used to each other without invading his turf. Also it is super easy to clean and put together! The only thing I was worried about was the wire flooring, but that was easy to fix with a cut-to-size dog mat.

I am a first time ferret owner, and want the best for my baby girl, and this cage is great! It would have been nice if the cage came with instructions, but it wasnt too terribly hard to put together without them. Also, I wish the storage shelf at the bottom was bigger, but Lilly loves it, and that is what matters! When I put her in it, she went running all over the place sniffing everything. She doesnt play in the hammock too much, but she loves all the levels, and there is plenty of room for her litter box and food plus toys. Great buy!

i recently bought this cage for my two ferrets, and brought it back less than 10 hours later. not only is the quality poor, but the directions and over all assembly of the cage is just awful. it bends very easily- i took mine out of the box and the leg was so bent that the metal actually split on two sides. the wires are very weak, and the material is so thin, i kid you not, if having kept the cage one week i'm willing to bet money my ferrets could have broken through it. the doors are very flimsy and rattle, and the "levels" are barely 6" wide and provided very little space for my babies. the oddly placed cutouts for dishes make it impossible for one- let alone, two- ferrets to eat/drink. the ladders are not real stable or secure, and are rather slippery. the wire bottoms made it really uncomfortable for them to walk, and constantly left me worried about their feet getting stuck.
i initially bought this because so many people ranted and raved about how wonderful it is, and i could not disagree more. i wouldn't have cared if this cage was free- i would never put my ferrets back in here.

Me and the furkids love this cage!! Just got it assembled today -- without much confusion -- and as soon as the fuzzies were put in the cage they took off and explored every hammie, corner, litter pan and food dish!!
The only thing I don't like is that the shelves both have holes in them. I like solid shelves that they can sleep on and that I don't have to worry about them falling through and getting hurt. I hang hammies under the holes to prevent that.
Other than that we love the cage. Hubby and I both like the nice finish on it making it look more like a piece of furniture instead of "just a wire cage". And when you live in a motor home like we do that means a lot. This is the third or fourth cage we've bought over the past 15 years and I can tell already that we got our moneys worth!!
Keep up the good work!!

This is a nice cage that is a pain to put together. The directions are pretty bad and a few of the pieces were slightly bent. They were easy to straighten, and after a little swearing, I had a nice cage. It is fairly east to clean. The floor on the bottom part of the cage lifts right out for washing. The litter pan is a little flimsy though so you have to be careful taking it out or putting it back in. The locks on the doors are pretty simple so if you have an escape artist you will need extra locks. Overall it is a great cage and well worth the money.

I bought this cage for my sons rats...he has 3 of them...it is perfect! The top and bottom can be closed off for cleaning or just seperating the rats..and the full 3rd floor protects them from falling from an unsafe height...there is plenty of room for running around, playing with toys, hanging hammocks...the only drawback would be the bars on the floors of the 1st and 3rd level may be rough on their little feet...however, it is easy enough to cover the 1st level with bedding and the 3rd level with a solid material even white posterboard will do..the 2nd and 4th levels, as well as the ramps are solid plastic. I hope your rats or ferrets love it as much as ours do!
