This is the best quality food for the price. I use it as a base kibble and mix it in with a higher quality food. The price is fabulous compared to other pet store.

Rated 1 out of 5 by JJ Beware of raisin juice
Raisins and grapes can cause renal failure in dogs and ferrets. I can't find information that supports any one component of a grape may be safe. This ingredient does not belong in ferret food.

I use this in my mix of food for the high quality. Having met an 8yr female ferret with teeth like a 2yr I am totally sold on this food. Sometimes the new ferrets don't take to it right away but after mixing it with all the other foods they grow to like it. The price on here is nothing short of a steal. I recommend this as a base to all food mixes or just feed this one type.

My ferret LOVED this stuff, but when I talked to his vet she said that this is one of the worst foods. It has a lot of corn in it which is really bad for their nutrition. Choose a brand like Evo.

I've had my baby boy and older girl on this food for 3 months now. WOW they are thriving on this high protein chow. Gorgeous coats and so healthy! They love it. And you can't beat the prices on ferret.com - half the price of those 'giant pet stores'. We order food and treats every few months to save on shipping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Phoenixgirl Good food for price!
My ferret was raised on really bad food, so I switched him to this. He eats it all up, but doesnt go "crazy" for it like he went crazy for the other food. And its way cheaper here than it is at my local pet shops that charge $18 for the bag! Although I like the price, I may have to switch to something different for my picky little man!!

By babies like this stuff but it is so hard to get on this site! When I go to order this, 9 times out of 10 is is oversold or not in stock! I usually buy a couple of bags at a time to avoid the situation but, it didn't work this time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Kris Great food, Odd shape
I adopted a 2 yr old rescue ferret a week ago, and he loves this food. He was on nothing but Kitten Chow before, and I've noticed he has improved since eating this food along with the 8in1 supplements. His fur is soft and shiny! I plan to mix this with the EVO ferret diet.
My only Con about this food is the shape. The odd star shape has caused the pieces wedged between the back teeth on Bean's upper pallet multiple times, all of which I've had to intervene and get them unstuck. I will be crunching the food up into smaller bits from now on.

I like this food and I mix it with EVO for my fuzzies. After I switched my ferrets over to a mix of EVO and 8-1 crunchy their coats became so soft and fluffy and their overall appearance improved. I love this food and I'm going to keep mixing it with EVO for my babies!

Rated 5 out of 5 by AJ Price just doubled
Wow, the price just doubled on the food from when I ordered last month. Factor in the shipping costs and it's now the same amount as Petco charges. Think I'll be buying from Petco from now on, at least I won't have to wait seven days for the food to arrive and there's no longer any price advantage to buying online.

One of the top brands out there for ferrets. My ferrets love it, they are healthy and their coat and when they go potty definitely show it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mi-yeon Great despite the shape
I have the admit, the first time I gave my fuzzy this food, I also had it immediately mixed with EVO. When I first fed her both, she had a hard time eating with hard food so I had to soften it up for her for the first two weeks. When I stopped softening it for her, I carefully made sure she didn't choke until she eventually got used to having to chew on her food completely. (She used to chow down on her food like it would run away, forgetting to chew at times.) I don't see much problem with the shape really, it just makes them use their teeth more. (Which I find to be good)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Troy Excellent food!
This food is just great for Ferrets, and it' been what I've had them on for quite a while now. Ferret.com sells it for the best price though, as local pet shops will charge upwards of $15 a bag for it. I keep two types of food available to my furballs, and it's this, and Zupreem! They seem to eat the 8 in 1 more around cold weather times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CDS Wish this came in a bigger size!
I have an air tight container and usually do two four pound bags of this at a time I wish you could get this in at least a 10 lb bag.... My girls were on cheap food and it began to show in my one's coat and shedding. I switched to this with MEAT as the main ingredient and I'm happy with the results. They eat less, poo less, and their smell is so much better! I had no trouble with finickiness even with my problem girl who will snub her nose at every thing. The shapes don't get stuck in the roof of their mouth nearly as much with other brands and it's nice to know there is an affordable, quality food for them to eat! I will be ordering it here now that I know I'll pay nearly $10 less than at the local chain pet store with their high mark up! (I'm paying nearly $30 a bag!)It smells good for a pet food and doesn't seem to go stale like other brands I've tried.

Rated 4 out of 5 by AJ Star Shape can cause choking
My ferrets love this food, unfortunately the star shapes caused the food to get lodged in the roof of their mouths between their teeth and I had to pull it out in order to stop them from choking. Given the narrow mouths of the ferrets, the shape of the food is a REALLY BAD design. To prevent this from happening again, I soak the food in water to soften it but the manufacturer should change the shape of the food. Other than that, it's a good product but I switched to Evo because they have a round shape and my four boys don't choke on it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mike Great inexpensive food
In many of the lower priced ferret foods you will find corn as one of the top 2 or 3 ingredients, which has been linked to insulinoma. None here! All of my ferrets eat it, never had one refuse it. 4 of the 5 top ingredients are animal based protein. My only concern is that the fat content is a bit low (16%). I mix this with EVO ferret for that reason (and to stretch the EVO as it is a tad pricey).

Rated 5 out of 5 by Judith Best food for fuzzies
We've tried several foods, our fuzzies love this! Coats are much fuller, they've gained weight they needed, and they're much more alert and play a lot more (our cats seem to like it too). We recommend this food highly!

I've had a number of ferrets in the past + of course the one that owns me now. They have all liked this food. BeBee has a really nice coat too. It's closest to EVO in fat + protein(which I think is best), but he likes this more.

I have been feeding this to my two little ones for about a week now. They love it. I just brought home a new ferret and he needs some fattening up, and this is doing the trick. I picked this kind of food because I like that it has wholesome ingredients. And you cant beat the price. In reading the other reviews on this food I decided to keep the bag in the fridge as to keep it fresh and have had no problems. In all honesty though, after doing much research on ferrets I am going to go back to giving them the same food that I feed my cats as it is just as good for them and saves money. But if your going to buy ferret food, I would definitely recommend getting this kind.
